The spirit and the soul of poetry – El espíritu y el alma de la poesía

If rhythm is the soul of poetry, its spirit is that which it reveals (unveils), and which points to a world beyond words, beyond thoughts. Music, rhythm, movement appeal to the soul, whereas what is conveyed by the spirit appeals to the spirit; to the contemplative intellect (the ‘heart’) in man. It is its native, if submerged, content. Thus, rhythm is dance, and spirit is that which inspires it, and which is made of love, beauty and knowledge.
