We can enjoy reading history as if it were mere fiction from and about the past, and we must endure it as a necessary evil when we are in the midst of its turmoil. History (the totality of events and men’s actions) is unpredictable, and there is little we can do about it, if anything.

Bien visto, podemos disfrutar de la historia como ficción o teatro del pasado, y al mismo tiempo debemos sufrirla como realidad ineludible del presente.

Ni el pasado ni el presente es nuestro. Cada uno tenemos un papel asignado de antemano (Hitler tuvo el suyo, y Jesucristo también).

Mejor es ser testigo que actor en el escenario de la historia, aunque, como Arjuna, no podemos, ni debemos, abstenernos de toda acción.
