Mind and consciousness

All realms of consciousness, and all living beings, originate from the mind. Because of that, it’s far better that you focus exclusively on your own mind. There you will find the whole universe.

Carefully observe the ebb and flow of defiling influences in your mind. Don’t let them deceive you so readily. When you’re skilled enough to catch their movements, you can transform their negative power into positive spiritual energy.

– Mae Chee Kaew

Note: This is from the Buddhist perspective. From advaita vedanta the mind, which is a sixth sense, can also be ‘seen’, observed as an ‘object’. Consciousness or awareness, which is unchanging and impassible, is somehow beyond the mind, and cannot itself be observed, because ‘Thou art That’.
