The sublime Plato on the power of appearances


 
It is the power of appearance that leads us astray.

Plato (Protagoras, 356 D)

 

   (The same  notion of Pratibhasika in Advaita Vedanta, meaning the illusory, also mithya, as different from satya, reality. However, ultimately appearance is non different from reality, as Samsara is non differnt from Nirvana in Buddhist tradition)
