The soul of poetry (rhythm) – El alma de la poeía (ritmo)

What characterizes poetry is its musical quality – harmony in motion, whereby there is a beginning, a middle and an end. Rhythm inheres in that harmony as its vital pulse, its reiterating, recurrent, pulsating mode of expression, such as in a dance. Rhythm is the soul of poetry; it is, however, a necessary but not a sufficient condition or property.
